Self Hypnosis: Your Tool For Success

By Carl Walker

Self hypnosis is a very diverse and complex subject. It offers many benefits to physical health, mental health, the ability to relax, the ability to better focus ones attention and has many more uses as well as benefits to fit individual needs.

Self hypnosis became commonplace in the late sixties and early seventies as a means, or perhaps as a byproduct of meditation and the attempt of people to better help themselves both physically and mentally. With the advent of yoga and meditation classes and increasing conscious awareness in regards to stress, stress relief and mental and physical well being, it was only natural that self hypnosis would follow a similar course.

The art of self hypnosis is very similar to meditation. While that is not to say that they are the same in every aspect, they do have distinct similarities. Self hypnosis requires the devotee to have a quiet place where they can be free from interruption. An abbreviated session of introspective contemplation ensues. Through the art of self hypnosis, the person can become more aware of their distinct individuality not only physically and mentally but emotionally as well, and be better prepared to take on the challenges of the ever changing stressful world we live in.

Self hypnosis provides many benefits for the user. While it will take time to practice and perfect the art of self hypnosis, the end result can add time and years to an individuals life, and perhaps even more importantly, add quality of living to those years. Self hypnosis is not a quick fix by any means. For some people it takes years of intensive practice to perfect the art. While others may benefit more from the meditative quality of the sessions, some will be able to perfect self hypnosis to the point they can actually accomplish things that were previously impossible for them even to imagine, much less accomplish.

There are many schools which will teach self hypnosis. It helps to know the person who is teaching the skill and it needs to be understood that it will not perform miracles overnight. If someone is advertising self hypnosis as a quick cure for all of the ailments of mankind, it should be questioned. If someone is willing to take the time and mental discipline necessary to improve their ability and awareness with self hypnosis, the results will be positive and lasting. Self hypnosis can have a very positive effect on the individual like any tool, self hypnosis is only as good as the person practicing it.
