Is there a supervisory agency for hypnotherapy?

Answered By Hank Taylor, Editor

In United States, many false hypnotherapists practice hypnotism and resulted to several form of incidents. To avoid this incident, the American Psychological Association (APA) takes the responsibility in supervising hypnotherapy.

The APA supports the legitimate use of hypnosis for pain control, weight control, and as cognitive behavioral and other therapies. The APA strictly implements the law regarding the proper use of hypnosis and other hypnosis-related techniques.
